NEW DEPORTATION TREATIES WITH ROMANIA AND HUNGARY
Agreement has been reached between the governments of Austria, Hungary and Romania on the introduction of a new treaty which makes it possible for Austria to send back undocumented aliens to Hungary and Romania. The treaties appear to merely legalize an already ongoing practice of the Austrian border police (supported by army units). Between September 1990 and February 1992 more than 14,729 "undocumented" persons were intercepted at the Austro-Hungarian border. 10.575 were sent back to Hungary.
