GOVERNMENT SAYS NO TO POLICE DATA BASE FOR PREVENTIVE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION
The Swedish data inspection board has rejected plans by the National Police Board (Rikspolisstyrelse) to set up a computerized register of persons who are not suspected of any specific crime but whom the police suspects to be involved in major criminality. An appeal by the National Police board against this decision was equally rejected by the government.
