SMART-CARD FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS?
A Working Group on the administrative harmonisation of asylum procedures made up of civil servants of the Interior Ministries of the German Länder has demanded the introduction of a mandatory "smart card" for all asylum seekers on German territory. All available data on social benefits and the legal status of the bearer shall be stored on the computer-readable card and the working group also advocates the storing of fingerprints and photographs on the plastic card.
