EU HELPS POLAND TIGHTEN BORDER CONTROLS

Among EU funding schemes for Poland, a total of 6 million ECU are intended to help strengthen border controls on the eastern border of the country. More specifically, 3 million ECU are destined for the purchase by Poland of 136 cross-country vehicles for the border police. The remaining 3 million ECU are earmarked for the purchase of modern fingerprint identification equipment, to be used in the fight against organised crime, "illegal immigration" and drug trafficking.
